Do you remember this landing page and the colourful rolling backdrops? You have probably accessed this COVID-19 Info-hub websites countless times during the pandemic, but now it all seems like a memory from so long ago… Just like any unpleasant experience that we all tend not to remember, the COVID-19 experience has faded away from the memory of most people in the last couple of years. However, from a continuous improvement, as well as emergency preparedness point of view, we must not forget too soon the difficult and sometimes painful experience, without extracting the valuable lessons learned from the pandemic period.

In fact, HSEO has called upon relevant campus units to recount their pandemic actions taken and lessons learned right after the pandemic was formally over back in early 2023. The information collected was then collated and presented in a series of timeline charts with graphics, arranged by each campus unit involved. These timelines are archived together with the COVID-19 Info-hub website that contains the announcements, anti-pandemic measures, records of cases, etc, and become a permanent collection of the Digital University Archives at UST Library. There is also an overall review of campus response to the COVID-19 Pandemic compiled by HSEO, which includes action items of preparedness for future pandemics.

This collection is a valuable record of a very special period in the history of UST, and it is also a useful reference when another public health threat of a similar nature arises. Let us all learn from our lessons and never stop safeguarding our health!

You can access the COVID-19 web archive through any campus computer using your ITSC login at this link https://archives.hkust.edu.hk/communities/81aa246e-ef91-4dce-ae04-5cb88133cd80
